Phoenix Homeowner Survey
According to a survey by Wakefield Research for Dwellify, nearly 3 in 4 (73%) Phoenix Homeowners experienced setbacks during their home remodels, causing delays and escalating costs. These included lost time due to lack of tools or materials (25%), problems purchasing materials (21%), and unexpected problems (15%). Other important findings are:
- The house conversion puts a strain on personal relationships. Almost a quarter (22%) of Phoenix Homeowners have experienced or know someone who has had an argument with a spouse or partner over a remodel.
- Homeowners want to be happy. More than half (54%) of the Phoenix Homeowners are less than satisfied with the end product. While almost a third (29%) simply accepted or were disappointed with the results, 23% were Phoenix Homeowners said they were pleasantly surprised when things didn’t go as planned.
- Sticking to a budget is key. Almost half Phoenix Homeowners (45%) found the cost most overwhelming. Half (49%) said they were initially budgeted $10,000 or more, with one in five (20%) estimated to cost more than $20,000. However, only 35% of conversion projects reach their budget.
- profits are important. More than the half Phoenix Homeowners (58%) indicated that one benefit of their remodeling was that their home increased in value. After counting the hours spent on the remodeling project and comparing it to the increase in value of their home, less than half Phoenix Homeowners (46%) estimated that their remodeling project made them above minimum wage. About 30% believed they earned minimum wage, while 11% earned below minimum wage.
